Na het akkoord dat easyJet afgelopen donderdag (24 september) bereikte met pilotenvakbond VNV is er nu ook overeenstemming gevonden met de vakbond voor easyJet’s cabinepersoneel op Schiphol, de Vereniging Nederlands Cabinepersoneel (VNC). Het akkoord zorgt ervoor dat gedwongen ontslagen ook onder easyJet’s cabinepersoneel op Schiphol voorkomen kunnen worden, onder andere door het bevriezen van de salarissen voor de komende twee jaar.
 
Op dit moment werken er 300 medewerkers op easyJet’s basis op Schiphol, daarvan zijn er 200 cabinepersoneel. De basis in Amsterdam is van strategisch belang voor de luchtvaartmaatschappij; easyJet is de op één na grootste maatschappij op Schiphol en vervoert jaarlijks meer dan 6 miljoen passagiers naar een netwerk van 42 zakelijke en vrijetijdsbestemmingen in Europa.
 
Eerder dit jaar kondigde easyJet aan dat ze binnen het hele bedrijf een reductie in het aantal werknemers van circa 30% voorstelt om zo de lange termijn gezondheid van het bedrijf te waarborgen. Met dit akkoord is een dusdanige reductie onder de Nederlandse easyJet crew dus niet nodig.
 
William Vet, Country Manager Nederland: “Na het akkoord met de VNV zijn we nu ook met de VNC tot een overeenkomst gekomen en hiermee is voorlopig een einde gekomen aan een periode van onzekerheid wat betreft de toekomst van de basis op Schiphol. We blijven toegewijd aan onze positie op de luchthaven én aan onze crew die zo hard werkt en constant de beste service biedt, ondanks de ontzettend moeilijke omstandigheden waarin we ons als sector op dit moment bevinden.”
 
Ron Sneijder, voorzitter easyJet section VNC: “De inzet van VNC in deze voor de luchtvaart onzekere tijden was baanbehoud voor het easyJet cabinepersoneel. Met dit akkoord hebben we dat bereikt, tot opluchting van alle collega’s op de basis Amsterdam.”

easyJet also reaches agreement with Dutch cabin crew on job retention
 
Following the agreement that easyJet reached last Thursday (September 24) with the VNV pilots union, an agreement has now been reached with the union for easyJet's cabin crew at Schiphol, the Dutch Cabin Crew Association (VNC). The agreement ensures that forced layoffs can also be prevented among easyJet's cabin crew at Schiphol, among other things by freezing salaries for the next two years.

Earlier this year, easyJet announced that it is proposing a reduction in the number of employees of approximately 30% across the company to ensure the long-term health of the company. With this agreement, such a reduction among the Dutch easyJet crew is therefore not necessary.
